BBC Breakfast to start broadcasting from Salford as of 10 April

BBC One’s morning news programme Breakfast will start broadcasting from new studios in Salford as of Tuesday, 10 April.

The program will continue to be presented by Bill Turnball, Susanna Reid, Louise Minchin, and Charlie Stayt. However, anchor presenter Sian Williams and sport presenter Chris Hollins are not making the move, citing family reasons – as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Sian Williams presented her last show on 15 March, and according to the Daily Mail said she had no plans outside the BBC, despite rumours of a possible move to ITV’s rival breakfast show, Daybreak.

According to  the Daily Telegraph up to 80 per cent of Breakfast staff may refuse to move to Salford.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that the BBC has already spent £6.5m on relocation deals for 549 staff moving to Salford.

The move is expected to cost the BBC into the millions as according to the Daily Mail, costs are spiralling.
