The ANC apologised for the “boorish behaviour” at its Polokwane conference after finance minister Trevor Manuel “attacked” a photographer with his umbrella.
According to The Times in South Africa, the SA Editors’ Forum had received an apology for the treatment of journalists by ANC staff.
AllAfrica.com reported 18 December that the ANC conference turned ugly on 17 December when marshalls manhandled journalists. A group of about 20 photographers and writers were chased away from outside the conference hall, and some were pushed around.
