Philip Webster is stepping down as the political editor of The Times after 16 years in the role to become the new Europe editor as the paper makes other senior editorial changes.
Webster will be replaced by current head of news, Roland Watson, from January when he’ll move to oversee the paper’s general election coverage before moving to Brussels to take up his new post.
David Taylor, currently deputy national news editor at The Guardian, will join The Times as head of news, replacing Watson.
A further change will see Anoushka Healy, Times assistant editor for strategy and development, appointed as the paper’s new managing editor.
She will take over from David Chappell when he steps down in February.
