In Style editor Trish Halpin takes helm at Marie Claire

In Style editor Trish Halpin will replace Marie O’Riordan as editor of women’s monthly Marie Claire.

O’Riordan announced in October that she was standing down as editor of IPC’s flagship women’s title after seven years at the helm.

Halpin has been editor of IPC stablemate In Style since September 2006 and will take up her new post at Marie Claire on 2 February, with her successor at In Style yet to be announced by the publisher.

Before editing monthly fashion title In Style, Halpin edited Hachette Filipacchi‘s Red magazine and has been deputy editor of More and the now defunct New Woman.

She is also a two-time winner of the British Society of Magazine Editors’ editor of the year award.

Halpin commented: ‘As a life-long Marie Claire fan I am honoured and excited to be taking the helm of this ground-breaking title.

“I look forward to working with the team on taking forward the brand’s fantastic combination of award-winning journalism and inspiring fashion and beauty.”

Marie Claire was launched in 1988 and is now published in 30 other countries around the world.

In Style saw a small increase in the latest round of ABCs, up 1.2 per cent year of year to 180,879, while Marie Claire’s sales dropped 4.8 per cent year on year to 316,765.
