Freelance jailed after making fake emergency calls

A freelance journalist in Cumbria has been sent to jail for 105 days after being convicted of making hoax calls to the emergency services.

The Scarborough Evening News reports that 27-year-old Sarah Louise Crickmer made calls to mountain rescue and police and was found to have a story written on her laptop about the fake incident.

According to the Evening News the report began:  ‘Mountain rescuers were said to be mortified…”
