Former Times cricket correspondent picks up MBE

By paulmcnally

Cricket commentator and journalist Christopher Martin-Jenkins today picked up his MBE for services to sport.

The man known throughout the game as CMJ was awarded the MBE in this year’s New Year Honours and is a familiar voice on Test Match Special and is also the author of more than 20 books on cricket.

Martin-Jenkins, 63, from Rudgwick in Horsham, joined the BBC in 1970 as a sports reporter.

In 1999 he became chief cricket correspondent at The Times, where he stayed until May last year.
