Ex-Marquess of Bath ‘wifelet’ sues Telegraph

By Sarah Limbrick

A former 'wifelet' of eccentric aristocrat the Marquess of Bath is suing Telegraph Media Group for libel.

Trudie Juggernauth Sharma claims a string of stories that appeared in both the Daily and Sunday Telegraph between June and November 2011 were defamatory.

Now the former model and art consultant has turned to London's High Court, where she is seeking damages from publishers TMG.

If the claim reaches court, intimate details of her unusual life at Longleat are set to be aired at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Sharma had shared her life with Alexander Thynn, the 7th Marquess of Bath, for the past thirteen years but has left his 10,000-acre estate and moved into a flat in Fulham.

She met Thynn at a party in 1998 when she was apparently enthralled when he swallowed a whole mackerel.

The pair split following a bust-up alleged to have involved a Sunday lunch that degenerated into drunkenness, violence and lewd suggestions.
