One of the founders of global news agency Splash News, Gary Morgan, has joined Newsflare as a "senior advisor".
Newsflare is based in London Based in London and describes itself as an "online video marketplace that connects the world’s media with video shot by the public".
Morgan left his role as chief executive of Splash in 2014. The agency, which employed around 100 staff at its peak, was sold to Corbis in 2011.
Based in Los Angeles, Morgan will seek to help Newsflare grow internationally.
He said: "Newsflare is intent on going beyond just another way to license user generated content in a crowded marketplace. The approach is to give both amateur and professional videographers a global social community to support each other in the pursuit of the breaking story. No matter how remote there is a forum to feed the news cycle and get instant feedback, which is essential in far flung corners of the world.”
