Axegrinder felt sorry for a poor chap by the name of Tom who chanced upon a sneaky pint on the way to work this morning only to be pounced upon by a pack of ravenous photographers.
Tom, it appears, heard on the wireless that JD Wetherspoons had opened a pub on the M40 motorway and decided he would investigate matters himself.
The pub is located on the Extra Motorway Service Area, junction 2 of the M40, in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
The company named the bar the Hope and Champion and said it will be open from 4am to 1am, seven days a week.
Tom strolled in at 9.20am and saw several shifty looking types bashing away on laptops while others lurked around the edges with menacing intent.
As he ordered his pint from the bar, the press pack suddenly pounced like brain-starved zombies in a B movie classic.
Tom told Sky News that he was “slightly surprised” by the number of photographers waiting in the bar.
But in Axegrinder’s experience, our friendly togs like nothing more than a bar that opens at 4am, seven days a week.
The real challenge will be shifting them in the absence of a major disaster.
