Telegraph’s Coughlin does Moscow in style

By Axegrinder axeblog

With all the cost cutting at the Telegraph recently, I hear that executive foreign editor Con Coughlin recently went on a rare trip to Moscow. And one who knows those foreign lands well tells me he stayed in one of the plushest, most expensive hotels in town.

Says my mole: “Originally he was booked in at the Metropole, but instead decided to stay at the more expensive Ritz Carlton.” According to the hotel website, the cheapest room in the hotel is $870 (£425) a night.

Perhaps the old days of being a foreign correspondent and living it up in great style aren’t over just yet.
