Six Iraqi journalists honoured for work in Iraq

The International Women’s Media Foundation awarded its ‘courage in journalism awards’to six Iraqi women who risk their lives covering the news.
The Courage in Journalism award was given to Huda Ahmed, Shatha al Awsy, Sahar Issa, Alaa Majeed, Zaineb Obeid and Ban Adil Sarhan, who work for McClatchy’s Baghdad bureau.

Zimbabwe journalist Peta Thornycroft was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award and Lydia Cacho of Mexico and Serkalem Fasil of Ethiopia were also honoured for their work.
National Public Radio’s Fresh Air, the BBC’s World Service , The New York Times, Associated Press and Newsweek are among those who covered the awards.
