News just in: today’s papers are priceless

By Axegrinder axeblog

How the times, they are a changin’. It was only a short while back, Axegrinder recalls, that when you bought a daily or Sunday newspaper, you were given something free ‒ like a DVD or even a bar of chocolate, perhaps.

But nowadays, my man in the City tells me, go into WHSmith to buy a bottle of mineral water and you’re told: “Please go and pick a daily newspaper of your choice.”

But the question is: what if I just want my water, and don’t want to read a daily newspaper?

Could I perhaps get a Mars bar instead?
