Word reaches me that the effervescent ladies who work at Emap’s Grazia magazine are all a-flutter as they feel the crunch of the company’s money-saving regime.
“They’ve been forced to move into a smaller office on the fourth floor where more magazines are being squashed into a smaller space,†I’m told by my source with the red lipstick.
“They are all being forced to share a kitchen space and bathrooms with far more people.†Under the old system, there was a kitchenette for each magazine and a set of bathrooms, which was always shared by only two magazines.
To add to their woes, they’ve been told they can’t have bins in the office as they are supposed to recycle everything. Also, everyone has to punch in a personal code every time they want to print a sheet of paper. And, as if that wasn’t enough, crockery and mugs have been banned in favour of paper cups and plastic cutlery.
The water coolers dotted around the office have also been scrapped in favour of one tiny filter tap in the kitchenette ‒ causing queues of hacks filling up water bottles.
