More about life at the Evening Standard. Last Friday, features editor Simon Davis (who, as I reported here some weeks ago, has decided to leave the paper) wrote a valedictory piece saying how pleased he was to be going – no more hellish two-hour commutes, no more endless meetings or prickly office politics. He admitted that he was never mad about office life, although he will miss his daily kipper at the Derry Street canteen.
He then hints that much of the day is spent doing personal emails, checking out YouTube or Facebook, wandering off to get tea and wine gums, chatting to friends on the mobile or gossiping.
Not surprising, then, that I hear some colleagues were happy to see the back of him.
