Burmese officials tell journalists to leave

By Julie Tomlin GR

Burmese officials have urged Swedish and Danish newspapers and TV stations to withdraw their journalists, claiming they “can no longer guarantee the safety of foreigners”.

The Local reported that the Swedish tabloid Expressen, TV channel TV4’s news website and Danish daily newspaper Politiken were urged by a man who introduced himself as a representative of Burma’s police authority to withdraw their reporters.

In each case journalists were named. But all the news organisations deny they have journalists working inside Burma.
