At least it wasn’t on a CD

‘Tis, it seems, the season for accidental dissemination of confidential documents.

Guardian News & Media has revealed the names and email addresses of 170 contributors and tipsters who are in the payment of the company. The gaffe was a result of the accounts department forgetting to hide the Bcc: address box on an email asking people for their bank details.

One Guardian snout outed on the email said: “I wrote back saying how cheesed off I was with mine being disclosed and judging by some of the other names below, I guess they’ll be a bit unhappy too. As The Guardian continues to lay into Darling on the confidential child benefit files, isn’t it slightly ironic that it is doing something similar?”
