CMPi dominates young journalist nominations

By Paul McNally

B2B magazine publishers CMP Information and CMP Medica have led the nominations for the Periodicals Training Council New Journalist of the Year awards – including four places on the shortlist for PropertyWeek.com staff.

Journalists working for the group have been nominated nine times for this year’s awards, which recognise the work of those with less than three years’ experience in the industry,

PropertyWeek.com’s editor, Lucy Scott, is among those shortlisted in the new editor of the year category. Her colleagues, David Doyle, Lydia Stockdale and Tina Smith are also nominated.

Journalists on CMP Information stablemate Building received three nominations, with a further two nominations going to Chemist and Druggist, which is published by CMP Medica – another division of the United Business Media publishing empire.

Three journalists on Chemistry World, the title published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, made the shortlist – including a double nomination for reporter Richard Van Noorden.

IPC Media received four nominations – including two journalists working on high street fashion weekly Look. BBC Magazines, Emap, RBI, Bauer and men’s free magazine Shortlist each received three nominations apiece.

MA Journalism students at Goldsmiths College in London secured five or six nominations in the award for most promising student.
