BBC Magazines 'close to a sale with Bauer in pole position'

The BBC is close to agreeing the terms of the sale of its magazine business with Bauer Media entering protracted negotiations with the corporation, according to reports this morning.

Bauer is understood to be discussing the details of a deal will effectively outsource most of the BBC’s magazines through a series of licensing agreements, Media Week reported this morning.

Bauer was still the favourite bidder, the Guardian said, in the £100m-plus sale of the BBC’s magazine division – which includes titles such as Radio Times, Top Gear, Lonely Planet and Good Food.

A handful of credible bidders still remain, the Guardian added, despite publishers Future and others like Burda not being involved in the latest round of talks after earlier interest.
