Cadets, yet already you have lost the only competitor cut out to be a
hack.
I salute Elaine Okyere and wish her all the best after her
decision to quit the competition. She was the only one to realise the
cadets’ second task was an initiative test.
Any true reporter asked to “climb into William Hogarth’s Gin Lane sketching”, “listen to the characters” and,
my personal favourite, “taste the gin”, would have known the correct
procedure in such situations is to tell the features editor to fuck off.
