Who wants to be a millionaire? Mark Austin and the Rory Peck Trust do

By Press Gazette

ITV News Anchor Mark Austin will be appearing on the gameshow “Who wants to be a Millionaire” on Christmas Eve and has chosen The Rory Peck Trust as the charity he wishes to support.

The Rory Peck Trust supports freelance journalists and other independent media workers who are vital to free expression in all corners of the globe. The international newsgathering industry relies heavily on these journalists who often represent the only independent voice in their country and struggle to work in the face of poverty, insecurity and repression. The trust supports freelances in a number of ways including subsidising training in hostile environments, providing financial and moral support to freelances in need, and to the families of those killed, imprisoned or seriously injured during the course of their work.

Director of the trust, Tina Carr, said: “Mark – thank you for choosing us! This is incredibly generous of him and seriously good news for the Trust. Do watch if you can”

The programme will go out on Saturday 24 December 8pm-9pm on ITV1.
