Freelance journalist Sylvia Morris was named journalist of the year last night at the Headlinemoney.co.uk awards for personal finance journalists.
The event, at London’s Park Lane Hilton, is the biggest awards night in the world of personal finance journalism, and the shortlists were compiled after journalists working in the field were asked to nominate each other.
Morris has worked as a freelance personal finance journalist for 25 years.
One of the judges said: ‘It’s about time that Sylvia’s excellent stories got the credit they deserve. She is the industry-recognised authority on savings, mixing hard-hitting exclusives with detailed analysis.
‘On top of this, her talents extend to leading the debate on women’s pensions and continuing the war on with-profits funds when other journalists have been happy to rest on their laurels. She is one of the best journalists around and thoroughly deserves to break the domination of PF editors who regularly win headlinemoney’s top awards”.
