Ireland’s Star on Sunday, which launched at the weekend with a 170,000 print run, sold well, according to newsagents.
Closely resembling the daily edition of the Star, the new Sunday paper is described by managing director Paul Cooke as a much “more leisurely read”. Cooke said the company hoped in time to match the circulation of the daily edition at 113,ooo copies.
A free music CD and a 56-page celebrity magazine accompanied the new entrant into the crowded Sunday market, in which 10 tabloid newspapers are now in competition
