Scottish Television is rescheduling its political programmes in the run-up to the Scottish Parliament and local government elections on 1 May.
Platform, its political magazine programme and The Week in Politics, its weekly review of Scottish parliamentary proceedings, move to earlier slots.
From this week, Platform goes out at 10.30pm on Thursdays, followed by The Week in Politics at 11pm.
Scottish Television managing director Sandy Ross said: “We are committed to playing our part in keeping our viewers informed about what is happening in the political world. It is vital there is a good turnout for the second elections to the Scottish Parliament and we hope the earlier slots for these programmes will help with this.
“We also listened to what First Minister Jack McConnell said in November’s Holyrood Magazine, the Scottish Executive’s in-house magazine, when he talked about the lack of opportunity for politicians to be “seriously grilled with a reasonably large audience”.
“This earlier slot will guarantee bigger audiences for our political programmes,” he said. “We have done our bit – now it is up to the politicians.
“We are determined to play our role in the run-up to the Scottish elections.”
