Ireland on Sunday is claiming a sales figure in excess of 230,000 copies for 12 January.
This is the highest number of copies the Associated newspaper has sold in its six years of existence. Already Ireland’s top-selling mid-market tabloid, its publishers say it is now challenging for the position of top-selling Irish newspaper.
“We are delighted with the news,” said editor-in-chief Martin Clarke. “This is a fantastic figure and provides us with a strong springboard for future growth of the newspaper.”
Last November, official ABC figures confirmed that IoS sold on average 142,396 copies every week between July and September 2002. This was a 174 per cent increase on circulation figures for the corresponding period of the previous year and IoS expects it to increase even further when the next ABC figures are released next month.
