Tindle Newspapers has bought one of the oldest newspapers in the country, the Wellington Weekly News.
The 4,120-circulation News, which was launched in 1860, sells in Wellington and the district south and west of Taunton, Devon. It is based in Wellington town centre.
Tindle publishes more than 200 titles, many of them more than 100 years old.
The acquisition was completed late on Tuesday, and staff met the three new directors of the company, Sir Ray Tindle, Brian Doel and Wendy Craig, on Wednesday.
The previous owners of the title, Northcliffe, will retain a minority share in the new company.
