Alan Qualtrough, who resigned on Wednesday as news editor of the Daily Express, is the new editor of the Evening Herald, Plymouth. He takes up his new post at the end of the month.
Qualtrough, 52, is the first one of the ex-national newspaper men sought by Northcliffe Newspapers in a drive to fill editors’ chairs in the group with the best talent it can find. The Plymouth title is current holder of Regional Press Awards Newspaper of the Year.
Qualtrough has worked for the Sunday People, the Daily Mail and Today. He replaces Rachael Campey who has joined The Times as deputy news editor.
