It had been five years since the London Press Club staged its spectacular fundraising ball.
Despite
the postponement from July because of the London bombings, nothing was
going to stop organiser Philippa Kennedy pulling off a triumphant
evening at the Natural History Museum last week.
The dinosaurs’
watering hole – how apt for a gathering of senior newspaper staff, some
might say – was transformed for the occasion, and the auction saw some
extremely generous, even wild, bidding action.
As a result of
their largesse, Kennedy hopes to be handing a cheque in the region of
£40,000 to the journalists charity, the npf, towards its rebuilding of
its Surrey care homes.
