O’Sullivan to chair Press Gazette magazine awards panel

By Press Gazette

Sally O'Sullivan is to chair the judging of Press Gazette's new awards that celebrate the best in design and journalism — the Magazine Design Awards and the Magazine Journalism Awards.

O'Sullivan's career in journalism has included top roles at some of the industry's most prestigious magazine brands.

She has been editor-in-chief of Good Housekeeping and Homes and Gardens, editor of She, Harper's and Queens and Options, and women's editor at the Daily Record.

In 1998, she founded her own magazine company, Cabal Communications, which launched titles including Front and Real Homes. Cabal was later sold to Highbury Communications for £10 million.

She is now chair of customer publishing company August Media.

O'Sullivan will oversee the rigorous new judging process for both awards.

The Magazine Design Awards panels will include senior figures from the design world, including experts in typography, photography and illustration.

The Magazine Journalism Awards panels will be drawn from senior journalists with backgrounds in magazines and national newspapers. The judges will be announced in Press Gazette shortly.

Entry forms for both awards will be available on www.magazineawards.co.uk from Monday 14 August, and will be published with next week's Press Gazette. The closing date for entries will be Friday 8 September and shortlists will be announced by the end of September.
