A 33 year old serving Metropolitan Police workers has been arrested by detectives investigating the corrupt payment to officials.
The female officer was working in the Metropolitan Police’s call handling unit. She was taken from her home in Essex and is being held in a at a police station in East London.
The woman is the 79th person arrested as part of the Operation Elveden probe which investigates corrupt payments to public officials.
Operation Elveden is running alongside Operation Weeting which is probing phone-hacking and Operation Tuleta which is concerned with computer hacking.
It is understood that the latest person arrested is one of the 2,000 people based at the Metropolitan Police’s control and communications centre.
As well as the police, three people have been arrested by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
