Nuneaton get a new free weekly

By Press Gazette

Iliffe News and Media has joined forces with Observer Standard Newspapers to launch a new weekly free paper, The Nuneaton Observer.

The paper is due to launch on 2 April and will have an initial print run of 50,000.

Most of the editorial and advertising will be provided by the team on Iliffe’s existing newspaper, the Heartland Evening News in Nuneaton, with support from the Observer Standard operation

in Coventry.

David Fordham, chief executive of Iliffe News and Media, said the company had been looking at its publishing strategy for Nuneaton since buying the Heartland Evening News in June 2006.

‘The opportunity of joining forces with Observer Standard Newspapers in Nuneaton is an exciting one,’

he said.

‘We already have a title in the market, and Observer Standard Newspapers has knowledge of this particular part of the West Midlands and a proven track record and formula for free newspaper launches.”
