“No Darling” campaign takes to streets

By Press Gazette

The Comet series in North Hertfordshire enlisted the help of local MPs and took to the streets of London as part of its “No, Darling” campaign to halt proposed expansion of Luton Airport.

It was the latest move in a four-month campaign in which readers have been urged to write to Transport Secretary Alistair Darling telling him of the impact the expansion would have.

Comet reporter Sarah Tregoning was joined by MPs Peter Lilley and Oliver Heald as part of a delegation to Westminster which handed in copies of the letters from readers. Editor Darren Isted said: “We have clearly struck a nerve with our readers and their response to our ‘No, Darling’ campaign has been fantastic.”
