New puzzle craze gets own mag

By Press Gazette

H. Bauer has launched Su-doku Selection, the UK’s first national
magazine dedicated to the new puzzle craze. The new monthly title
contains over 80 Su-doku deductive puzzles of varying difficulties for
people to pit their wits against. Su-doku originated in Japan and
America and is now sweeping the UK.
Individuals are challenged to fill in a grid of
nine rows by nine rows so that every row, column and box contains the
digits one to nine. Edited by Dan Brown the first print run of 100,000
copies appears on newsstands this week priced at £2.00.
Spike Figgett, publishing director of Su-doku
Selection, said: “The country is going mad for Su-doku so it’s only
natural with our strong track record in producing puzzle magazines
we’re ahead of the market by picking up on this trend and are ready to
launch a quality dedicated title as the craze becomes mainstream.”
