New Head for April launch

By Press Gazette

BBC Magazines has appointed former More! deputy editor Mink Kapferer to head its teen launch, Project April, writes Sarah Boden.

The teen title, which will sit alongside Top of the Pops and It’s Hot, is due to launch in the autumn. “Project April will have a completely unique spirit, so we had to ensure we had the very best team on board,” said publisher Alfie Lewis. “Mink’s appointment will bring fabulous flair and humour to the title and we’re confident the launch will set the teen market alight.”

Kapferer was involved with the relaunch of More! and was acting deputy editor on J17 during its revamp. Prior to that, she spent four years in Sydney as features editor on New Woman and B magazine and six years as editor of the Teletext Teenage magazine.

Kapferer said: “BBC Magazines’ existing teen titles have blown so many others out of the water, and there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to launch another winner. It’s an exciting time to be here, and we can’t wait to unveil Project April in all its glory.”
