Aberdeen Independent Ltd has appointed Derek Pyper as group editor of its stable of weekly newspapers and magazine North East Life.
Pyper moves from the weekly Ellon Times, where he was editor. He began his career on the subs table of The Press and Journal and for several years was owner and publisher of north-east Scotland monthly magazine Leopard.
Pyper succeeds Jonathan Moore who has joined The Press and Journal as assistant editor.
