Deputy personal finance editor at the Financial Times Pauline Skypala has been promoted to edit the FT’s weekly fund management tabloid FTfm.
The section looks at the business of fund management, both retail and institutional, where in the past Skypala has focused on the retail side.
Possible changes under her editorship, she said, would be to increase coverage of hedge funds and private equity and put more emphasis on distribution of funds and the multimanager phenomenon.
“It is a really exciting challenge,” she said. “My role will have a more business focus and it will be very useful to have knowledge of retail, which I have been doing for the past five years.”
Skypala joined www.ft.com/yourmoney in 1999 as investment editor and moved across to the paper in 2000, becoming deputy personal finance editor the following year.
She started her career on Money Management magazine and worked on the Money Mail throughout the Eighties, before editing Money International, a finance title for ex-pats.
This year she was named pension writer of the year at the Headline Personal Finance Awards and she was also winner of the personal financial journalist award at this year’s Harold Wincott Press Awards.
Skypala replaces Simon Targett, who has been made features editor.
