Pat Gilbert, editor of Emap’s music magazine Mojo, has quit after 18 months to write a book, writes Ruth Addicott.
Gilbert is understood to be on the verge of signing a book deal to write a music biography. He has been editor since 2001, but said he wanted to spend more time writing.
“I wanted to concentrate more on writing and when you’re working in an office you don’t always get a great deal of opportunity,” he said.
“I am sad to be leaving the team, we had the best team ever. It was fantastic working on Mojo but it was just time to move on.”
Gilbert has worked on Mojo for five years. He held a number of posts including reviews editor, associate editor and deputy editor.
He has also freelanced for The Times and The Guardian and began his career as a staff writer on Record Collector.
Emap is in the process of looking for a replacement.
