Dance music magazine Mixmag is launching a new ‘live’ project featuring cover star concerts that will be broadcast live online.
Mixmag Live will see each month’s cover star guest-edit a ten-page section within the magazine and mix the cover CD before playing a show in London streamed live on the magazine’s website.
The magazine is also launching a digital version for Android after the success of its iPhone and iPad apps; over 35,000 people have subscribed to the iPad edition in the last few weeks.
Editor Nick DeCosemo said: “We are all incredibly excited about this new chapter in Mixmag’s history.
‘Mixmag has always been at the cutting edge of club culture and we believe this series of events, coupled with our new digital activity and the monthly cornerstone magazine cements our position as the world’s leading authority on dance music and club culture.
‘We are also looking forward to some rather amazing parties,” he said.
The Mixmag Live project will be unveiled in the March issue which goes on sale on 16 February featuring dance music artist Richie Hawtin on the cover.
Hawtin’s live show will take place in London on 23 February.
Mixmag had an average circulation of 21,250 in 2010 according to ABC figures.
