Western Daily Press editor Terry Manners is the latest high-profile departure from Northcliffe Newspapers.
Manners
left the Bristol-based morning today. It is understood he will be
replaced on Monday by Derby Evening Telegraph deputy editor Andy Wright.
Manners’
deputy editor, Chris Cowley, a former editor of the Oxford Mail, has
also left. Manners’ departure follows the axing of Bristol Evening Post
editor Mike Lowe in June. Lowe’s replacement, Mike Norton, was made
editor-in-chief of the Bristol operation above Manners.
Other
high profile Northcliffe editors to leave the company since June
include David Gledhill, at the Bath Chronicle, and Barrie Williams at
the Western Morning News.
Staff were told in an internal memo
“Terry Manners has resigned as editor of the Western Daily Press with
immediate effect. We are grateful to Terry for all that he has done for
the newspaper and wish him every success in the future.”
