The 152-year-old weekly Teesdale Mercury has redesigned to give the paper a more modern feel. For the first time in nearly 30 years the Barnard Castle town crest has been dropped from the masthead to reflect the paper’s wider readership. New "compact" headings have been introduced at the top of each page for ease of navigation and to give designers more space.
