Local newspaper is in a council spin

By Press Gazette

Simon Jones, head of communications at Hammersmith & Fulham Council, claims in Press Gazette: ‘You won’t find many pictures of councillors in our paper.’But the most recent issue of his borough’s H&F News (15 July 2008) carries a total of 17 photographs of Borough councillors

Mr Jones adds: ‘In H&F News, the council is happy to accept criticism … We carry negative letters about the council.’

Therefore, can I expect to see a report on what The Howard League for Penal Reform described in its summer issue of The Howard: ‘Landmark judgement from Law Lords on homeless teenagers”?

The news story covered a case about how Mr Jones’s employers were ‘slammed’after ‘housing a ‘deeply troubled’ child in a string of B&Bs and hostels”.
