Yorkshire Evening Post senior general reporter Paul Jeeves has left
the regional press to embark on a career on the Daily Express.
Jeeves, who leaves the Post after six years at the paper, will work in the district office covering Yorkshire.
Jeeves has worked on a number of high-profile stories while at the Post.
He reported on the Leeds footballers’ trial,
as well as murderer David Bieber, who was jailed for life for shooting
dead a policeman and attempting to kill two others.
The Express
closed its offices in Manchester in August, giving the paper the
opportunity to redeploy in Yorkshire. Jeeves will be the paper’s sole
reporter in the area, based in Leeds.
He commented: “I think a reporter for Yorkshire is needed. Having worked there for so long, I know how ‘newsy’ it is.
“I’m glad that my hard work at the Post has paid off, it’s very exciting.
I have been looking to move into the nationals, but opportunities to move in from the regionals are fairly restricted.”
Jeeves started his career as a trainee on the Pontefract & Castleford Express in 1996.
