Ireland’s leading religious weekly appoints editor

A new editor has been appointed to the Irish Catholic, the leading religious weekly in Ireland.

Garry O’Sullivan succeeds Simon Rowe who resigned the post after nine months and is now set to launch a competing Catholic weekly.

Currently communications manager for the Jesuits in Dublin, O’Sullivan is a former Vatican Radio reporter. He has worked for the Irish Voice newspaper in New York and spent two years with the Irish Catholic from 2001 to 2003 as a senior reporter.

Current acting editor Hermann Kelly is to become deputy editor.

The Irish Catholic has a circulation of 25,000 copies weekly
