Metro International SA has been given permission by the High Court
in Dublin to give notice of its attempt to obtain an injunction
restraining Independent News & Media from the use of the word
“Metro” in any title.
The bid to block INM from the use of the title in a competitive
publication came as news broke of the imminent launch of a free paper
for Dubliners by Metro International and two other companies.
One
of the companies making the court application, Fortune Green, is a
joint venture, which includes Associated Newspapers, publisher of the
Daily Mail.
