Hollywood comes to Birmingham

By Press Gazette

Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has lent his support to the Birmingham Evening Mail’s £1m campaign to help the city’s children’s hospital. The star of the Dirty Harry films was in the Midlands to promote his latest movie Mystic River. Mail film critic Graham Young dodged past Eastwood’s minders to present him with a poster urging people to support the campaign with the slogan “Go ahead folks, make my day”. Mail staff made the poster using a photo of Eastwood taken when the star previously visited Birmingham in 1967. “My, that’s a good looking fella,” Eastwood joked. “I wish the Evening Mail every success with its campaign.”
