Group plans to challenge BBC with allTALK

By Press Gazette

The Wireless Group (TWG) is changing the name of its new Edinburgh
radio station from Dunedin FM to allTALK FM as part of a plan to create
a local speech radio brand across the country.

TWG is also applying for licences in Manchester and the Solent area with the allTALK FM format.

Calum
Macaulay, its director of development, said: “We are gearing up towards
the station being operational by the end of this year and hopefully
followed by further allTALK FM stations in 2006. Speech radio has been
the dominated by the BBC with over 10 million adults tuning into a
local or regional BBC service every week; allTALK FM will challenge
this dominance.”
