The Martin Will Memorial Trust is offering its 16th annual award for young horse racing writers.
The award, commemorating journalist and amateur jockey Martin Wells, has categories for under 19s, and people under 26, and for the first time this year, under 15s. Six winners will receive prizes from £125-£1,250, and a paid day’s racing.
Winning articles will be published in the Racing Post and The Irish Field.
Entrants must be under 26 as of 1 January, and must not be employed by the national or racing press.
A detailed knowledge of horse racing is not necessary, but originality and entertainment is.
Typewritten entries of under 1,200 words should be sent to willswriting awards@postmaster.co.uk, along with your name, date of birth and telephone number, by 29 February.
