The Financial Times has expanded into Africa with the launch of a print site in Johannesburg. It becomes the paper’s 21st global printing site. Others include Dubai, Hong Kong, Miami, Seoul and Tokyo.
The FT currently sells 2,435 copies in South Africa and has two correspondents based in the country as well as Africa editor David White, above.
Zach Leonard, FT managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Given the increase in sales of the Financial Times in South Africa and the ever growing popularity of FT.com we felt the need to offer our customers a better service. “This move to offset printing will make the newspaper available on the morning of publication in the Guateng region, and make it more accessible to the rest of the business community.”
