Fitzgerald joins Jack

By Press Gazette

Jack magazine has taken on more full-time staff, including the former launch editor of nme.com, Brendan Fitzgerald, writes Ruth Addicott.

Fitzgerald, above, has been appointed managing editor and Eddy Lawrence and Ben Ashby have joined the production desk as sub-editors.

Having freelanced for Jack since issue one, Fitzgerald was previously assistant editor on NME and launch editor of its website. “I’ll just be maintaining standards and driving Jack on, trying to grow the readership and make sure it’s high quality,” he said.

I Feel Good’s editor-in-chief James Brown added: “Brendan has worked on Jack in a freelance capacity since it went monthly.

He is an experienced senior editor who I worked with back in the NME days. Eddy too has vast experience as reviews editor on Select, and Ben is a new talent looking to make his name at IFG. This gives us a full production team and will allow us the time to go on improving Jack month by month.”

The changes follow Jack’s recent declaration that it plans to overtake Esquire and Arena on the news-stands by the next ABCs. The appointments also follow the arrival last month of Dan Davies, Michael Holden and David Whitehouse.
