Actor Colin Farrell has launched a libel damages claim against Channel 4 over an internet story, that said he needed medical help.
Farrell is sueing the broadcaster, through its commercial division 4Ventures, for more than £150,000 over a story headed “Farrell ‘needs psychiatric help'”, published in December.
He is also seeking damages for all republications, both in the UK and abroad, from the company.
Farrell is asking the High Court to grant an injunction banning 4Ventures from continuing to publish the allegations of which he complains, and any other similar allegations.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman confirmed the broadcaster had received a writ from Farrell, through law firm Schillings.
