A former editor of Bizarre has changed direction and is relaunching the official magazine of the Landscape Institute.
Joe Gardiner has been appointed launch editor at Wardour Communications to revamp Landscape and launch an eight-page bimonthly newsletter called Vista.
Wardour won the £900,000 magazine contract earlier this year and the relaunch is part of a major three-year development programme to raise the profile of landscape architects.
The institute’s journal was previously published 10 times a year by the Landscape Design Trust. Landscape has now increased its frequency to monthly and Gardiner hopes to reach a wider audience and increase subscriptions in the first year.
“Landscape architecture is a subject that affects everyone and part of the remit is to raise its profile outside the profession,” he said. “We are focusing on good photography.”
Landscape is expected to showcase the best work in landscape architecture, with analysis of issues facing the profession. Vista will report on the industry and carry up-to-date information from the LI, helping professionals working on landscape projects.
